HCPSS Administrators Describe the Value of School Resource Officers for Student Safety

With the new “annual reauthorization” requirement added to the School Resource Officer (SRO) Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that passed last night, there is the very real risk that a future HCPSS Board of Education will decide to leverage this annual renewal requirement and vote to end the SRO program.

 

With that in mind, here is a section from last night’s Board meeting during which three distinct HCPSS school administrators shared their insight on the value of SROs and just how detrimental it would be to their students and staff if the program was ever ended without an equal or better replacement:
